The initiative, which is being run in partnership with Kirklees Active Leisure, is part of a 'Healthy College' campaign which aims to help students and staff get fitter.
The four students and six members of staff selected have had their fitness assessed and the College's sports department have designed individual fitness programmes. Everyone at the College will be able to follow their progress over the coming months. As well as fitness sessions the participants will take part in monthly challenges and activities such as yoga, dancing and cookery which are run by the College's adult education section.
Martin Deans, Events Co-ordinator at Kirklees College, said:
"As well as transforming their own lives our participants will be acting as ambassadors by promoting healthy lifestyles around all our centres. This initiative is all about getting students and staff motivated to change their lives for the better whether they want to lose weight, eat healthier, cut down on smoking or drinking, reduce stress or just generally get fit and healthy. Everyone at the College will be able to watch their progress and hopefully be inspired. Thanks to the support we’ve got from Kirklees Active Leisure they’ll have a whole host of facilities and classes to take advantage of."
